The United State of Women & VoteRunLead present: The Galvanize Program Atlanta!

Together, The United State of Women and VoteRunLead are proud to announce The Galvanize Program!

We’re bringing local United State of Women summits to communities across the country to bring together people to tackle the challenges women are facing nationally and locally. We’re arming women with the tools and resources they need to keep organizing and fighting for gender equity, whether that’s through elected office, entrepreneurship, and everything in between.

During this 2 day workshop, attendees will pick a track based on their interests to receive in-depth and skills-based training developed by organizations, such as VoteRunLead and others. We want you to leave the Galvanize Program with a clear sense of how to continue working for equality in your community, and the connections with organizations and activists to make it happen!

50/50 Day: Rethinking the Past, Present and Future of Women + Power

If you were inspired by the Women’s March, join us on Wednesday, May 10, at the Parkway Theater for wine, feminism and politics on 50/50 Day!

Recent events have made it loud and clear: we need to have a national conversation about what it’s going to take to get to a 50/50 world, and about the greater context of the struggle toward gender equality.  What will it take to get to a more gender balanced world?  Filmmaker Tiffany Schlain has declared May 10, 2017 50/50 Day, a global event to engage in this discussion.  We hope you’ll join us for this local 50/50 Day event.

We’ll enjoy wine tasting with local company Grand Père Wines (featuring Champagne Lanson), view the short film, “50/50, Rethinking the Past, Present and Future of Women and Power“, and join in a panel discussion led by Erin Vilardi, Founder and Director of VoteRunLead.

The Film:  Emmy-nominated filmmaker & founder of The Webby Awards, Director Tiffany Schlain uses her signature cinematic-thought-essay style to take us on an electric ride exploring where we are in the greater arc of the history of women and power, and how we can truly shift the gender balance to be better for everyone.

Proceeds will benefit VoteRunLead, a non-partisan nonprofit organization that recruits, trains, and mentors first-time women candidates.  The panel discussion will include MN State Senator Patricia Torres Ray, Ramsey County Commissioner Toni Carter , and Minneapolis City Council Member Elizabeth Glidden.

www.voterunlead.org is a non-partison nonprofit organization TRAINING POWERHOUSE.   A portion of the cost to attend is tax deductible.

WHERE: THE PARKWAY THEATER, 4814 CHICAGO AVE, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55417

WHEN:  WEDNESDAY, MAY 10TH   7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.

Minnesota Plate to Politics

VRL partners with Women Food and Agriculture Network for a series of day-long training’s for women farmers and leaders who are passionate about healthy food and farming. The trainings will be held from 9:00-2:30/3:00 in March and April. The cost to attend is $20 with limited scholarships for registration and travel available. Individual workshop details and registration pages are available here. These one day trainings will support and inspire Iowa women in agriculture, natural resources and food systems who want to play a critical role in transforming our nation’s food system. This is a great opportunity for women who are running or planning to run for office to network and be inspired. Women who want to ramp up their advocacy and systems change leadership in healthy food and farming or with an interest to help other women run for office are also encouraged to attend.
