Habon is the Executive Director and founding member of Women Organizing Women Network, a non-profit organization committed breaking barriers and fostering an environment in which women are encouraged to lead and to advocate for policies that positively impact their communities. Habon has over 25 years of experience in gender and politics. She believes that having a critical mass of women in leadership and decision-making positions is positive for human development in all societies. Habon is an experienced and respected voice on building a platform that celebrates minority women’s civic leadership efforts and successes. Her research on minority women and political participation and the cultural and structural barriers women face in each stage of a political career, gives her a unique understanding of key impact progressive leaders network have on supporting women running for office, getting women elected, and shaping their policies and effectiveness once in office.
