Sharon Yang is a member of the Global Politics and Government Outreach team at Facebook with a focus on the United States and Canada. Prior to joining Facebook, Sharon served as Chief of Protocol for the U.S.A. Pavilion at the 2015 World’s Fair in Milan, Italy (also known as Expo Milano 2015). Before venturing to Milan, she managed the Aspen Institute’s Scholars & Scholarships campaign as a Campaign and Development Officer. From 2009-2013, Sharon was Director of Gen44, the national fundraising program of President Obama’s Re-election Campaign, Democratic National Committee, and the Presidential Inaugural Committee. Gen44 was the young professionals program created to cultivate and empower the next generation of donors and leaders in the Democratic Party. Before joining the D.N.C. and 2012 Presidential Campaign, she was a National Candidate Finance Director for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and also served on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Presidential Campaign as a member of the Mid-Atlantic finance team. Sharon began her career in Washington, D.C. working at MSHC Partners, a democratic consulting agency, followed by Grunwald Communications, a political and media consulting firm founded by Mandy Grunwald. She is first-generation Chinese-American, proud product of San Diego, California, a former competitive figure skater, and graduate of Loyola Marymount University’s School of Communications and Fine Arts.
